Estimate Your Weekly Benefit

Enter the gross wages from your highest-earning quarter (a 3-month window) over roughly the last 18 months. Nebraska bases your weekly benefit on that quarter.

How this is estimated: a typical 1/26 high-quarter formula, capped at Nebraska's $582/week and 26-week maximums. Your actual benefit is calculated by the NE unemployment office and may differ from this estimate. Use it as a planning number, not a final figure.

Track your Nebraska claim week by week

Save your filing date once, and the dashboard tells you what week you're in, what's normal, and what to do next. All data stays in your browser.

Tips for Filing in Nebraska

Use NEworks for everything. Nebraska consolidated UI and workforce services into NEworks. Filing, certification, work search, it all happens there.

Complete NEworks profile fully. Nebraska blocks benefits until your NEworks profile is 100% complete. Skipping optional fields can hold up payments.

Document weekly job search activity. Nebraska DOL audits work search records. Keep a written log with date, employer, and contact method for every week claimed.

Read the Nebraska Claimant Guide. Nebraska's official handbook explains the partial-earnings deduction formula clearly, important if you're working part-time while claiming.

The unpaid waiting week still needs to be certified

If your state has a one-week waiting period (most do), you do not get paid for that week, but you still have to file a weekly certification for it. Missing this cert because you assume an unpaid week doesn't count delays your first real payment by one to three weeks while the state processes the gap. File the waiting-week cert the same Sunday you file every other cert.

From Patrick's experience

Can't reach unemployment? Call the Governor's office

When state UI phone lines disconnect or hold for hours, the Governor's office will route constituent calls to the unemployment agency's escalation queue. Every state has a Governor's constituent services line, and they treat unemployment delays as a routine constituent issue. This works in every state. It is the single most effective workaround for phone-system gridlock that I learned through experience.

From Patrick's experience

Nebraska uses NEworks portal for UI and job search combined

Nebraska Department of Labor runs NEworks at neworks.nebraska.gov as a unified UI and job-search platform. New claimants must complete a NEworks profile and resume; the resume is a hard requirement, not optional. Sparse profiles trigger eligibility holds.
