State government jobs offer great benefits, job security, and pensions. Many don't require a degree.

Estimate Your Weekly Benefit

Enter the gross wages from your highest-earning quarter (a 3-month window) over roughly the last 18 months. Indiana bases your weekly benefit on that quarter.

How this is estimated: a typical 1/26 high-quarter formula, capped at Indiana's $445/week and 26-week maximums. Your actual benefit is calculated by the IN unemployment office and may differ from this estimate. Use it as a planning number, not a final figure.

Track your Indiana claim week by week

Save your filing date once, and the dashboard tells you what week you're in, what's normal, and what to do next. All data stays in your browser.

Am I Eligible for Unemployment in Indiana?

You must have earned at least $4,200 in your base period with wages in the last two quarters.

Tips for Filing in Indiana

File 'vouchers,' not 'certifications.' Indiana's Uplink portal calls weekly claim filings 'vouchers.' Looking for the 'certify' button leaves first-time claimants stuck.

Document each weekly job contact. Indiana DWD audits work search records randomly. Keep a written log with date, employer, position, and contact method for every week claimed.

Use the Uplink portal on a desktop. Indiana's Uplink works best on a full browser. Mobile users sometimes lose voucher progress mid-submission.

Watch for DWD requests for information. Indiana mails or emails wage and separation verification requests with short turnaround windows. Missing one suspends your claim.

The unpaid waiting week still needs to be certified

If your state has a one-week waiting period (most do), you do not get paid for that week, but you still have to file a weekly certification for it. Missing this cert because you assume an unpaid week doesn't count delays your first real payment by one to three weeks while the state processes the gap. File the waiting-week cert the same Sunday you file every other cert.

Can't reach unemployment? Call the Governor's office

When state UI phone lines disconnect or hold for hours, the Governor's office will route constituent calls to the unemployment agency's escalation queue. Every state has a Governor's constituent services line, and they treat unemployment delays as a routine constituent issue. This works in every state. It is the single most effective workaround for phone-system gridlock that I learned through experience.
